Publisher’s Summary
When 19-year-old huntress Feyre kills a wolf in the woods, a beast-like creature arrives to demand retribution for it. Dragged to a treacherous magical land she only knows about from legends, Feyre discovers that her captor is not an animal, but Tamlin – one of the lethal, immortal faeries who once ruled their world. As she dwells on his estate, her feelings for Tamlin transform from icy hostility into a fiery passion that burns through every lie and warning she’s been told about the beautiful, dangerous world of the Fae. But an ancient, wicked shadow over the faerie lands is growing, and Feyre must find a way to stop it… or doom Tamlin – and his world – forever.

My Review
If you’re new to fantasy like me, “A Court of Thorns and Roses” might feel like a whirlwind. The world-building is extensive, which can be a bit overwhelming at first.
I’ll admit, I was pulled into the story, but Tamlin? He left me with a strange feeling, a kind of ‘ick’ factor that I couldn’t quite put my finger on.
In the beginning, I questioned whether I should even finish the book. It felt like I was missing the point, until suddenly, everything started to click in the last few chapters.
The world Sarah J. Maas creates is undeniably rich and vivid. It’s a tapestry of magic and danger that sets the stage for a complex tale. As a newbie to this genre, I found it both impressive and a bit challenging to fully dive into.
The pacing might test your patience early on, but trust me, it picks up. The slow burn is worth it for the pay-off towards the end… and book 2 & 3 (currently reading book 4)
In a nutshell, “A Court of Thorns and Roses” is a ride, especially for newcomers to fantasy. Despite my reservations, there’s a promising story here once you get past the initial hurdles. Stick with it, and you might just find yourself eager for more in the series.

He brought his lips to my ear. “I would have been gentle with you, though.” I shuddered as I closed my eyes. Every inch of my body went taut as his words echoed through me. “I would have had you moaning my name throughout it all. And I would have taken a very, very long time, Feyre.
